Dr. Norbert Kiss PhD

Dermatologist, Venereologist, Cosmetic dermatologist

Introduction

During my medical studies at the Faculty of General Medicine at Semmelweis University, Budapest, Hungary, I completed 1-1 months of internship in Vienna, Bologna and Florence. After graduating in 2016, I joined the Department of Dermatology, Venereology and Dermato-oncology at Semmelweis University. Here I obtained a PhD degree and a board certification in Dermatology and Venereology with excellent results, and was appointed Assistant Professor of Dermatology in 2021.

I have given several lectures at dermatology congresses in Hungary and abroad, including the Hungarian Dermatological Society, the European Academy of Dermatology and Venereology (EADV), the European Society for Dermatology Research (ESDR) and the European Reference Network for Rare Diseases (ERN-Skin). I have attended several dermatology fellowships abroad, at the Department of Dermatology in Trieste, the Department of Dermatology of Sapienza University in Rome, and I have studied tropical skin diseases in Manila, the Philippines. Since 2018, I have been awarded four New National Excellence Programme Research Fellowships. In 2020, I was awarded the Michael Hornstein Memorial Scholarship of the European Academy of Dermatology and Venereology, and in 2021, the Merit Excellence Award of the Faculty of General Medicine, Semmelweis University. I have published more than 60 scientific publications, most of them in prestigious international journals. My main areas of scientific research are skin tumours, inflammatory skin diseases and rare skin disorders. I regularly give lectures to medical students in Hungarian and English.

In my work as a dermatologist, I take a complex approach and thoroughly investigate the background of different skin disorders, paying attention to internal and other co-morbidities. I treat my patients with the utmost care, based on the most up-to-date knowledge and the latest scientific findings, with a strong emphasis on personalised, safe, painless and effective treatment. Based on my experience as a dermatologist, I consider it extremely important to have a dermatological check-up at least once a year, which can be life-saving. I am also experienced in the investigation and management of sexually transmitted infections, in addition to a wide spectrum of adult and paediatric skin conditions. My clinical work at the university department has given me extensive experience in the management of both urgent and chronic skin conditions.

Specialisations

Dermatology

I am experienced in the treatment of various dermatological diseases, including, including psoriasis, hidradenitis suppurativa, acne, rosacea, seborrhoea, eczema, atopic dermatitis, paediatric dermatology, diagnosis and advanced treatment of hair and nail diseases. Urgent skin conditions such as rashes, allergic reactions, insect bites, shingles, herpes, eczema flare-ups, suspected Lyme disease are also my area of special expertise.

Dermato-oncology

The incidence of melanoma, a malignant tumour of the pigment cells, has risen significantly in recent decades. Melanoma screening is recommended at least annually for everyone, depending on the skin type and the number and type of moles. I also perform photo documentation and timely follow-up of moles that require more attention.

Sexually transmitted infections

A special area (which used to be called sexually transmitted diseases, today known as sexually transmitted diseases, infections - STD / STI) has always been an integral part of dermatology from the very beginning. Due to the nature of these diseases, in addition to an accurate and reliable diagnostic background, it is important to have intimate atmosphere at the Clinic with open-minded, unbiased professional medical staff. This is what I personally believe in and this attitude is typical of all doctors and colleagues working at our Clinic.
